PLUGGERS
A social app where trend scouts stake a prediction on what's about to blow up, and the crowd bets alongside them with a purchasable in-app currency.

Overview
PLUGGERS turns a hunch into a public bet. A scout notices something trending, a new pizza spot, a headphone brand quietly blowing up, and posts it as a 'Call': a short trend write-up paired with a yes/no question. The crowd stakes Plugs, an in-app currency, on the outcome, and every call, right or wrong, builds a public track record.
Problem
The people who spot a trend first almost never get credit for it. By the time 'Freckles is the best new pizza spot in Jakarta' is common knowledge, the person who called it eight weeks earlier has nothing to show for being right, no reputation, no leaderboard spot, no upside. Trend-spotting stays a private habit instead of a skill people can build a name, or an income, around.
Solution
PLUGGERS is built around four people: the scout who spots the trend and posts the Call, the trend-hopper and investor who read the pattern and decide whether to back it, and the business the Call is about. A Call reads like a short post, 'Freckles might be onto something', paired with a concrete, resolvable question: 'Will Freckles open another Jakarta location before June 2027?' The community stakes Plugs on Yes or No at live odds; correct predictions pay out, wrong ones don't. Posting costs Plugs too, so scouts have to be right often enough to keep playing, and a Scout Score / Alpha Score leaderboard turns 'I called this first' into a number everyone can see.
My Role
Sole product designer. I defined the four-persona interaction model, designed the Plugs token economy end to end (stake, payout, posting cost, purchase), and built the mobile app's onboarding, home feed, discovery, call-creation flow, and profile.
Process
- 01
Persona mapping
Defined how the scout, trend-hopper, investor, and business owner each interact with a single Call, and what each one is optimizing for.
- 02
Token economy
Designed Plugs as a purchasable, stakeable, and earnable currency, balancing posting cost for scouts against payout odds for predictors.
- 03
Core interaction loop
Built the Call format: a trend write-up, a binary prediction market, and a stake amount picker with live Yes/No odds.
- 04
Discovery and reputation
Built the Explore trending feed and the Scout Score / Alpha Score system that ranks scouts and predictors publicly.
- 05
Tech stack
Built on Next.js (App Router, Turbopack) with TypeScript and Tailwind CSS, deployed on Vercel. A server-rendered React stack kept the feed and Call pages fast without a heavier client framework, and Tailwind made it quick to iterate on the prediction-market UI, odds bars, stake pickers, live percentages, without fighting a component library.
- 06
Mobile app build
Shipped as a mobile-first web app with onboarding, home feed, explore, create, and profile.

“The people who spot trends first rarely get credit until the trend is already obvious to everyone. PLUGGERS came from wanting to make that early instinct visible, and worth something, before the rest of the timeline catches up.”
