Pocketify
A mobile-first finance app for small shop owners, recording daily transactions and category budgets without turning money management into a spreadsheet exercise.

Overview
Pocketify is a mobile-first personal finance app built for people who run their finances out of a notebook or a chat thread, not a spreadsheet. It renders as a native-feeling phone shell, with its own splash screen, tab navigation, and app chrome, on every device.
Problem
Small shop owners need a fast, low-friction way to see cash on hand, log a sale or an expense in seconds, and keep category budgets visible, without adopting accounting software built for a different job.
Solution
Pocketify wraps the whole product in a persistent mobile app shell: a splash screen on launch, a bottom tab bar, and a single-hand composer for adding transactions. An editorial visual system, deep-teal accents, warm terracotta highlights, and serif display type, replaces the generic dashboard look most finance tools default to.
My Role
Sole product designer and builder. I designed the mobile app shell, splash screen, and visual system, and built the overview, transaction log, and budget-tracking flows end to end.
Process
- 01
Concept
Defined Pocketify as a phone-native product first, with the interface designed as an app shell rather than a responsive website.
- 02
Visual system
Built a distinct editorial identity, deep teal and terracotta accents, serif display type, moving away from generic dashboard styling.
- 03
App shell
Built the splash screen, phone frame, and bottom tab navigation that wrap every view.
- 04
Core flows
Implemented the cash-flow overview, searchable transaction log, category budgets, and the add-transaction composer.

“Pocketify is still a prototype, not a deployed product, and the screenshots here are honest about that. Designing the app shell first, splash screen and all, forced every later screen to earn its place inside a phone frame instead of a browser tab.”
